Welcome to our website about allergies and symptoms!

large part of the population is susceptible of having food allergies or food intolerances. A person may experience unpleasant reactions after eating certain kinds of food. These reactions may indicate the presence of allergy.

Food allergies can be inherited. In fact, one out three individuals confessed about modifying his diet if one member of the family is believed to have a food allergy. When it comes to food allergies, 5% of the reported cases are children. In addition, there are 4% of teens and adults who have acquired food allergies.

There is a significant difference between food allergy and food intolerance. The misconception of the two affects the clinically proven prevalence of food allergy and the perception of the public about this problem. Food allergy happens when a person ingests a certain type of allergen.  The presence of allergen triggers the antibodies in the immune system to release histamines that cause the allergic reactions to take place. This is not applicable for food intolerance even if some of its symptoms are similar with that of food allergies. For example, milk allergy and lactose intolerance may share similar symptoms. However, milk allergy is characterized by an abnormal reaction of the body due to milk. On the other hand, and the lactose intolerance is the inability to absorb or digest milk.
